Episode 161 – Nick Knight (1989)

Mary, Dennis, Alana, and Reggie ready for Halloween. Mary wears a headscarf, gold hoops, and a peasant top. Alana (me) is gothed out with Siouxsie Sioux-style eye makeup and her hair dyed black but for one silver streak. She's wearing a pleather top and fishnet gloves, one of which caresses Reggie's little puppet face. Dennis wears a black cape and a creepy white mask that I should probably know the origin of. It's not Ghostface, it's more Eyes Without a Face.

Rick Springfield is a vampire detective in Los Angeles hunting a serial killer. What more do you need? This failed tv pilot went on to become the cable series Forever Knight, which is shockingly not another D.C. Batman series.

We welcome back Alana Phelan to the show, having brought us this wonderful little paranormal piece of junk. Check out Alana’s work at https://polyamorouslibrarian.wordpress.com

From the newsletter: Rick Springfield is a vampire detective in Los Angeles hunting a serial killer. What more do you need? Though not a success at the time, there’s a low-budget late-80s/early 90s charm to this movie, which asks the question—what if a vampire was a cop?

This failed t.v. pilot went on to become the Canadian-produced cable series Forever Knight, which, despite that title, is shockingly not another D.C. Batman series. We also watched a bit of the pilot, which is a shot-for-shot remake, while changing the setting to Toronto.

We welcome back frequent guest and contributor Alana Phelan to the show, and thank her for having brought us this wonderful little paranormal t.v. movie. Check out Alana’s work at https://polyamorouslibrarian.wordpress.com
