Hollywood Avalon, Episode 33 – Parsifal (1912)

The Hollywood Avalon logo, a drawing a green hill with stone steps leading up to a castle tower, with Hollywood Avalon written on the hill and Mary vs the Movies written against a colorful sky.

A silent film of an opera sounds like a joke, but no, it’s quite real–and honestly pretty disjointed and dull, playing more like highlights of Wagner’s opera about the Holy Grail than a film in its own right. We also discuss Catholic theology, transubstantiation, incels, and Happy Days.

Starring Vitale Di Stefano, Mario Bonnard, Mary Cleo Tarlarini, and Maria Caserini. Directed by Mario Caserini.

An...angel? points a sword at a knight with a bowl haircut. We only see the back of the knight. They are maybe standing in front of a temple of some sort. it looks like there's a clothesline across the top, but that can't be right.
